The Carnival HUB App — Your Complete Guide for 2026

Setup · Free Features · Paid Features · Pro Tips · Wi-Fi vs App — everything you need before you board.

If there’s one thing you should do before your Carnival cruise besides packing, it’s download the HUB app.

The Carnival HUB app is your digital cruise companion, free to download, free to use onboard, and genuinely useful from the moment you connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi. It replaces the old paper Fun Times schedule, lets you check your Sail & Sign balance in real time, browse menus before you sit down to dinner, and book excursions and spa treatments without standing in line.

Most first-time cruisers discover it exists on Day 2. Download it before you leave home, and you’ll be ahead of most people on the ship from the minute you board.

Here’s everything you need to know.

SECTION 1: SETUP BEFORE YOU BOARD

Download and Link Your Booking Before You Sail

The app is called Carnival HUB. Find it on the Apple App Store or Google Play. It’s free to download.

Once you have it, link your booking number to your account before embarkation day. This lets you:

  • Browse and book shore excursions, spa treatments, and drink packages
  • Complete your online check-in and access boarding documents
  • Preview the ship’s features and deck plans
  • Share your cruise countdown with friends and family

None of this requires you to be on the ship. You can do it all from home in the weeks before you sail.

💡 Jerry’s Must-Do: Download and link your booking the week you make your reservation not the night before you board. The excursion booking feature alone is worth doing early, before popular tours sell out.

Connecting Onboard — Step by Step

Once you’re on the ship, here’s exactly how to get connected:

  1. Put your phone on Airplane Mode first. This is critical. If you don’t, your phone will connect to the ship’s satellite roaming network, and you’ll be charged expensive roaming fees without realizing it.
  2. Turn Wi-Fi back on (while staying in Airplane Mode).
  3. Connect to the ship’s free Wi-Fi network — it will appear in your available networks.
  4. Open the HUB app and log in with your folio number and date of birth. Your folio number is printed on your Sail & Sign card.

No paid internet package is required for any of this. The HUB app runs entirely on the ship’s free Wi-Fi. Paid Wi-Fi is only needed if you want to browse the internet, use social media, or make video calls.

💡 TIP: The app always displays ship time, not local time. This matters on port days the ship operates on its own schedule regardless of what time zone the port is in. Always check the app for departure times, not your phone’s clock.

Device Compatibility

  • iPhone: iOS 11.0 and up
  • Android: 7.0 (Nougat) and up
  • Tablets: functional but not optimized, may look stretched
  • One login per device; each person in your group logs in separately

Two Ways to Log In Onboard

  • Before boarding, use your Carnival.com account credentials
  • Once onboard: use your folio number + date of birth (folio number is on your Sail & Sign card)

Each person in your travel group logs in with their own credentials on their own device. You don’t share a login.

SECTION 2: FREE FEATURES — WHAT YOU GET WITHOUT PAYING ANYTHING

Daily Schedule and Activities

This is the feature most people use. The HUB app shows the complete daily activities schedule for the entire ship every event, show, trivia game, pool activity, and entertainment option, updated daily.

You can:

  • Filter by category: food, drinks, entertainment, activities, kids
  • Star your favorite events to save them
  • Set 15-minute reminders so you don’t accidentally miss something

This replaced the old paper Fun Times newsletter that used to be slipped under your cabin door each evening. The app version is searchable, filterable, and always up to date.

💡 TIP: Check the app every night before bed and pick two activities for the next day. Screenshot or star them. It’s the simplest habit that makes sea days feel full instead of aimless.

Dining and Menus

The HUB app gives you full visibility into every dining option on the ship:

  • View all restaurant menus, including the main dining room
  • Check the opening and closing times for every venue
  • Join the virtual queue for the main dining room (no waiting in a physical line)
  • Make specialty dining reservations
  • Order pizza delivery directly to your location on the ship
  • Preview tonight’s MDR menu the night before to plan ahead

That last one is underused and worth knowing about. If you’re deciding between the dining room and a specialty restaurant for a particular night, checking the menu in advance makes the decision easy.

💡 TIP: The pizza delivery feature works late night when most other venues are closed. If you’re coming back from the casino or the piano bar at midnight and want food, the app is how you get it delivered to your cabin or deck chair.

Ship Tools

  • Interactive deck plans — find any venue on the ship by name
  • Always shows ship time, not local time
  • Weather updates for your itinerary
  • Muster station assignment and e-muster completion

The deck plan feature is genuinely useful on a ship as large as the Breeze or Jubilee, especially on Day 1 when nothing feels familiar yet. Search for any venue by name, and it shows you exactly where it is.

Account and Services

This is where the HUB app becomes your cruise management tool:

  • Real-time Sail & Sign balance — see exactly what you’ve spent, updated continuously
  • Full folio view — every charge itemized
  • Shore excursion booking — browse and book directly in the app
  • Spa treatment booking — reserve without visiting the spa desk
  • Camp Ocean hours — kids club schedule and activities
  • Virtual Guest Services queue — get in line without physically standing at the desk
  • Disembarkation time slot reservation — choose your departure window on the last day
  • Pixels photo gallery — view and order professional photos taken by the ship’s photographers

💡 TIP: Check your Sail & Sign balance every morning. It takes 30 seconds and prevents the bill shock that hits some cruisers on the last night when they haven’t been tracking. The app makes this effortless.

SECTION 3: PAID FEATURES

HUB App Chat — $5 Per Person for the Whole Cruise

For a one-time flat fee of $5 per person, you can unlock the onboard chat feature, messaging between anyone in your group who has the app for the entire sailing.

No cell service needed. No paid Wi-Fi package needed. Just the $5 activation and the ship’s free Wi-Fi.

For families, groups, or anyone trying to coordinate with other passengers across a large ship, it’s one of the best values on the entire cruise. Five dollars for a week of group messaging is hard to argue with.

What to know:

  • Ages 13 and up can use chat independently
  • Parental consent is required within the app for younger guests — check the app for current age requirements, as Carnival’s policy can vary
  • Notifications can be unreliable; keep the app open in the background to make sure you receive messages promptly
  • You cannot message people outside the ship chat; it is ship-to-ship only

💡 TIP: If you’re traveling with a group of any size, the $5 chat fee is worth it for every person. Trying to coordinate meet-ups across 14 decks without it gets old fast.

Wi-Fi Packages — Separate From the App

The HUB app does not require a purchased Wi-Fi plan. But if you want to browse the internet, check email, use social media apps, or make video calls while at sea, you’ll need to purchase a Wi-Fi plan separately.

Carnival offers three tiers:

Social Plan — social media and messaging apps only (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.)

Value Plan — general web browsing and email

Premium Plan — streaming, video calls, higher speeds

Pre-purchase for savings: Buying your Wi-Fi plan before you board saves approximately 15% compared to purchasing onboard. Do it through your Carnival Cruise Manager before embarkation day.

One device at a time: Wi-Fi packages cover one device per login. If you want to switch between your phone and tablet, you log out of one and log in to the other. It’s manageable but worth knowing in advance.

💡 TIP: For most casual cruisers, the Value plan is sufficient. The Premium plan is worth it if you need to work, stream video, or make regular video calls home. The Social plan works for anyone who mainly wants to post photos and keep up with messages.

SECTION 4: PRO TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE APP

Check the App First Thing Every Morning

Make it the first thing you do with your coffee. The daily schedule updates overnight, and there are often morning activities that fill up early, such as trivia, fitness classes, and cooking demos. Knowing what’s happening before you leave the cabin lets you plan the day instead of discovering things after they’ve started.

Look for Embarkation Day Deals on Day 1

The app often features special Day 1 pricing on spa treatments, specialty dining, and other onboard purchases. These deals are time-limited and disappear fast sometimes within the first few hours of boarding.

Check the deals section as soon as you connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi on embarkation day. Fahrenheit 555 at a discount on Night 1 is exactly the kind of thing that shows up here.

Use the Virtual Guest Services Queue

Guest Services lines can get long, especially on embarkation day and the last night of the cruise. The app lets you join the virtual queue without standing in line. You’ll be notified when it’s your turn, and you can show up right then.

Use this every time. There’s no reason to stand in a line that the app eliminates.

Check the MDR Menu the Night Before

Every evening, the next day’s main dining room menu is available in the app. Take 60 seconds to look at it before you go to sleep. If the menu looks good, plan to go. If it doesn’t, make a reservation somewhere else while there’s still availability.

This one habit alone saves the frustration of showing up to the dining room, looking at the menu, and wishing you’d booked Fahrenheit 555 instead.

Monitor Your Sail & Sign Balance Daily

Set a habit of checking your balance in the app every morning or every evening. Charges appear in real time, and it’s easy to spot anything that looks wrong while you’re still on the ship, and can address it at Guest Services.

Trying to dispute a charge after you’ve disembarked is significantly harder than handling it onboard.

A Note on the 2026 App Redesign

Carnival recently updated the HUB app with a completely redesigned navigation — cleaner layout, faster load times, and a more modern interface. If you’ve watched older YouTube tutorials about the app, the menus and layout may look different from what you see when you download it now. The features are all still there, just reorganized. Explore the new layout when you first connect onboard, and you’ll find everything quickly.

WHAT THE APP DOESN’T DO

Worth setting expectations clearly:

  • Cannot text or call people outside the ship — chat is ship-only
  • Cannot browse the internet without a paid Wi-Fi plan
  • Notifications can be delayed — keep the app running in the background
  • Tablet version is functional but not optimized
  • The app works on ship Wi-Fi only — it won’t work on cellular data or home Wi-Fi for onboard features

THE GALVESTON CONNECTION

One thing specific to Galveston sailings worth knowing: because CHEERS! doesn’t activate until Day 2 on Texas departures, the app is especially useful on embarkation evening for tracking your individual drink charges on Day 1. Keep an eye on your Sail & Sign balance from the first bar visit — you’ll want to know what you’re spending before the package kicks in the next morning.
